This Two storey, Three bedroom home is situated in the hills of Point Howard. The owner wanted the home to be positioned to take advantage of its view of Wellington harbour. Every room points towards this spectacular view whilst also capturing the afternoon and evening sun. Excavation into the hillside ensured minimal disruption to neighbouring sites.
We wanted to achieve a modern take on industrial design with a mixture of vertical Black Stria with cedar accents creates this feel.
The entire home is orientated on the site to create a real sense of privacy. Entering the house from the road and emerging at the top of the custom built steel and glass stair to an unobstructed view of the Wellington harbour is breath-taking.
The large skylight above links many of the spaces within the home together and along with custom built joinery throughout, really reinforces the design aesthetic our client wanted to achieve.
A covered outdoor area accessed from the living space and master bedroom and as much glass as possible has been included in the design to take advantage of the views.
On the ground level, guests can enjoy their own bedroom and living space and on the upper level the master bedroom, walk in robe and ensuite are tucked away from the open plan living area.
Planting, articificial turf and the selection of cladding used makes this an easy care, low maintenance home.
