Lower Hutt
Point Howard
Completed

Perched in the hills of Point Howard, this two-storey, three-bedroom home was designed to capture sweeping views of Wellington Harbour while maximising afternoon and evening sun. Careful excavation into the hillside allowed for minimal disruption to neighbouring sites, while the orientation of the home ensures both privacy and uninterrupted vistas from every room.
A modern take on industrial design is expressed through vertical Black Stria cladding paired with warm cedar accents, steel and glass detailing, and extensive glazing. Inside, a dramatic skylight links key spaces, while custom joinery and a seamless flow to covered outdoor living areas reinforce the design aesthetic. The result is a low-maintenance home that feels both refined and striking.
On the lower level, guest accommodation provides comfort and independence, while the upper floor houses the master suite alongside open-plan living oriented to the view. This project was recognised at the 2019 Master Builders House of the Year Awards, receiving a Regional Category Award, Gold Award, and Gold Reserve Finalist.
